Mondays We Cook: The Perfect Burger

June 9, 2014

I've tried many different types of burger all around the world. I've even had a sweet burger in Las Vegas where the bread was a doughnut, the meat chocolate, tomato was a strawberry, lettuce a kiwi and the cheese was substituted by a slice of passion fruit jelly. It was scrumptious!

But for me the perfect burger is the one you make at home. You can choose the ingredients and you know for sure they are fresh and healthy.

These are my favorite ingredients:

A bun of freshly baked bread from your favorite bakery. There are few things as delicious as warm, crunchy bread.

Make the burger from scratch. I usually buy fresh minced meat and shape it like a burger. I use a mixture of breadcrumbs and parsil to batter it. The quantity of meat you use is up to you, for me 120gr (4.2 oz) is enough. I fry it in a pan with virgin extra olive oil till it's well-done (I like my meat that way).

A slice of Manchego cheese. In my opinion, the best cheese in the world ; ) Once you put it on top of the hot meat it will melt...yum!!

Veggies. I only use tomato and lettuce -sometimes onion too- but you can always get creative and add whatever you want.

Mayonnese. Not the most healthy choice but I like to add a teaspoon of mayo to my burger. As a healthier option you can add ketchup.

What's for you the perfect burger?

  1. This looks amazing. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I'm not a huge fan of burgers but this is a cute post. Love the diner photos

  3. Ah yes that sounds wonderful! I love manchego cheese used to eat it all the time when I was in Spain - thankfully there are lots of burger places opening up in Paris so I shan't have to battle with my miniscule kitchen ;)

  4. Oh my gosh, if this isn't the cutest little place! What a wonderful retro vibe.
