The "Hole" Picture

June 3, 2014

One of my favorite photography tricks is photo-framing. Tree branches or flowers will provide great frames for your pics. Architectural elements can be used as well as you can see in the first photo. Next time you are out with your camera, take a look around you before taking a snapshot. Your photos will look way more professional.

These snaps were taken in Ribadesella, a coastal town in the Spanish region of Asturias.

    1. Hi Olivia! So you see how in the first photo I've used the blue circle to "frame" the houses? The idea is that you decide what you want to photograph and look for elements around you to use them as borders/frames for that object.

You can see examples with branches in photos 1, 2 and 11 of this post: http://memoriesofthepacific.blogspot.com.es/2014/05/photo-diary-aranjuez-palace-gardens.html

  8. LOVE the first picture and i love the advice on photo framing. I've seen some great ones with trees and vineyards but could get better at doing it. I will give it a try on my trip to Napa this weekend!
