When someone asks me what it the most important piece in my closet I always say the same thing: a blazer. Many people think that blazers are just for the office but they don't have to be. They are incredibly versatile. Try, for instance, a sophisticated pinstripe blazer with a pair of light-wash jeans for an elevated everyday look. That works with distressed jeans too. You can even finish that look with sneakers!
Keep on reading for more ideas...
- If you want to try something new you can wear a fitted blazer with a maxi dress, floppy hat and ankle boots for a boho look.
- Looking for a suit with a twist? swap the slacks for formal shorts with tights.
- Make a boyfriend blazer look more feminine by adding some lace underneath. If on the contrary you are wearing boyfriend jeans, go for a fitted blazer. Never wear two boyfriend items together.
- Bright colored blazers give a big pop of color to any outfit.
A common question when styling a blazer is what to wear underneath? Some people just wear them with turtlenecks but I prefer either a simple monochrome v-neck (like the one I'm wearing here) or an embellished top. To finish the look I love to wear a coat over my shoulders and a scarf.

Here's a selection of my favorite blazers. Even though there are great low cost versions (i.e. Zara), investing in a "good" blazer for a more formal event is important. Those tend to be pricey that's why I buy them during the sales period. Some of the ones below are currently on sale so check them out if you are thinking of buying one.
How do you wear your blazers? What's the most important garment in your closet?
