White Scallop Dress

June 12, 2017
These days we are used to seeing perfect images everywhere, so much so that my eye seems to be trained to spot flaws in photos. But isn't photography supposed to portray reality? I know that photography is art but when you are shooting lifestyle photos I think we should aim for images as close to reality as possible while still being Pinterest worthy. You may be wondering, why is all this coming from? Well, the day when these photos were taken there was a high percentage of humidity and it was a bit windy as well. My hair was getting frizzier by the minute and of course I was worried. I thought I'd have to discard these images. When I got home and saw them I thought: maybe this isn't so bad, maybe they are more natural this way. I'd love to read your thoughts about this on the comment section.
Now let's talk about this dress. If you follow the blog you might know me well enough to guess that I chose this dress for the scallops. It was sent to me by Romwe and I was surprised by how well it fits. I believe that pricier clothes fit better than cheaper ones that's why I couldn't believe it when I tried on this dress and saw that it fits without any alterations. Another strong point is that the length is perfect for petites. However, it is a little see through so I recommend wearing a nude or white half-slip underneath. And once you add that this dress is appropriate to wear to class if you are a teacher like me. The academic year is almost over but we still have to endure a few really hot days until it's over so summer dresses are my best ally.

As for the accessories I chose a tan handbag with a colorful scarf and my favorite gold sandals.

  14. Cristina I shoot my own photos around my home (usually outdoors) and it is the real me though I try to edit when necessary, just a bit, to make them blog-worthy, Instagram-pretty and Pinterest-worthy. That scalloped LWD is stunning in you. You are such an elegant teacher. I love the fancy French vibes this outfit has. Love that you added the scarf to the bag.

I'd love for you to co-host Thursday Moda with me sometimes this Summer. Please let me know. Thanks and Happy Tuesday!

  15. Hi Ada,

Thanks for the invitation, it means a lot to me. Could you tell me what I'd have to do to co-host the link-up. If you prefer you can send me an email with the details.

  16. You know, Cristina, I was remarking aloud not a few hours ago, on another blog that the lady had Photoshopped practically everything about herself. From the size of her arms to the shape of her legs and everything in between. I know we all want to look our best, but shouldn't our best be our natural best? Not a filter/post-editing creation? And for that reason, I'm going to go with a resounding HURRAY that you left your hair as is :) it looks really pretty, to be honest. And that dress is pristine.

  17. This dress is so pretty!
    You look great love!

  18. That's really sad. I'm sure she was beautiful without all the Photoshop. Society is to be blamed for this kind of behavior. If the world wasn't so obsessed with appearance and accepted all types of faces and bodies, Photoshop would not even exist.

  19. She was/is but I think she felt she had to fit into a specific mould. Very sad.

  20. This is a gorgeous dress - I love the scallops!

I hope you are having a great weekend!

  21. Love your dress, so pretty<3 :-)
