Back to School [Teacher] Outfit

Back to School Teacher Outfit
The most dreaded time by teachers all around the world has come. It's not like we don't love our job, but no one can deny that teens are a tough crowd. I think that the perfect teacher is the one who finds the right balance of friendly and strict. Basically use a carrot and stick approach. That's what I try my best to do. I'm friendly but I keep a distance and I get angry when I have to. I work with teachers who prefer to remain strict the whole time which I think that doesn't really work since there's a fine line between being strict and coming out as rude which doesn't have a good effect on kids. It makes confrontation worse.

Many kids are going through difficult situations at home which accounts for their bad behavior. There are no excuses for lacks of respect, of course, but sometimes you have to be understanding and be patient. Kids know if you are afraid of them, if you hate them or if you like them. Some of them just want to feel loved.

I would love to know who was your favorite teacher and what was he/she like so let's start a conversation in the comments section.

OUTFIT DETAILS
I chose this outfit to go back to school because of it's comfort and youthful vibe. It actually works as a back to school look for teachers and students alike. The lace skirt is an oldie but goodie from Abercrombie & Fitch. The espadrilles are from Replay, the bag is StarMela and the sweater from Des Petits Hauts. Sadly, it's all sold out so I'm guessing this info is not very useful anymore that's why I've put together some options that will help you create a similar look. To those of you who are fellow teachers I recommend you read this post on how to dress if you are a teacher.

Every girl needs at least a pair of pretty espadrilles
The white lace skirt, a closet staple

carrot and stick - the use of a combination of reward and punishment to induce a desired behavior (una de cal y otra de arena)

  3. I fully agree with you about being friendly and strict. If you aren't approachable, they won't want to be in your classroom. What grade do you teach??

  4. Great teacher outfit, really nice and fresh. It's been so long since I've been at school but I think my favourite teacher was my history teacher. Funny, a bit to strict at times but very fair.

  6. That outfit looks so incredibly comfy, Cristina! I love the splash of green against the white skirt, and those shoes just seal the deal!
Absolutely agree with you - the best teachers were the ones who had the right amount of friendliness & strictness to them. I had a few favourite teachers...and they were all ones who had those qualities. And you can tell they just genuinely loved their jobs, too. Hope you're school year is getting off to a good start :)

  12. I love your outfit! My favorite teacher was Mr. Bertolino an art teacher. He had rules in his art room, but he let all of us paint how we felt and what we liked. Everyone liked him!

  15. Such a great look! I love your top and shoes! I am always explaining to my son that sometimes kids that act out, or are mean are more than likely hurting on the inside. The best way ti interact is just be kind and understanding. Lovely post!

  16. Love the shoes! So pretty! Yes...teens are a tough crowd! lol, I had a rough day with one class and just nodded slowly when I read that, haha! But, you're right, there are all sorts of reasons why they act the way they do and maybe, just maybe they need us to draw a boundary for them. Hope the back to school time goes well for you!
