New In: Abercrombie & Fitch

New In: Abercrombie & Fitch

May 28, 2014

Check out what I just found in my mailbox : ) These cute embellished hair ties arrived this morning. If you love preppy style like I do I'm sure you have heard of Abercrombie and Fitch. This American brand offers casual, comfy and incredibly flattering clothes.

I discovered A&F while living in California and it instantly became one of my favorite brands. I've been to their stores in San Francisco, Stanford, 5th Avenue in NY and Madrid. Their clothes are perfect for every day and every ocassion. Plus, they have all sorts of accessories to complete your look from headbands and hair pins to bracelets and necklaces.

What is your favorite casual wear brand? Do you like Abercrombie and Fitch?

Mondays We Cook: Quinoa

Mondays We Cook: Quinoa

May 26, 2014
Have you ever heard about quinoa? Quinoa was first cultivated by farmers in the Andes mountains in Peru and Bolivia between 5,000 and 7,000 years ago. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal. It is a favorite carb option among gluten-free folks, since it's packed with protein and fiber. Quinoa is more filling and healthful than other gluten-free carb alternatives, like brown rice or potatoes. And if that wasn't enough, quinoa is a source of magnesium and calcium as well.

I'm constantly looking for super-healthy food so when I learnt about quinoa while living in California I started looking for recipes to add it to my diet. Quinoa is cooked pretty much like rice, you only have to boil it. It is an extremely versatile ingredient since you can add whatever you want to it: veggies, fruit, cheese, honey..., you name it.

These are my favorite quinoa dishes. However, on days I feel particularly creative I like to invent my own. If you know other recipes, feel free to share them on the comments below.
Enjoy,

Preppy in the Park

Preppy in the Park

I adore skirts, they are so feminine and flirty. I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it, the navy bow on the side adds a perfect finishing touch while making it less casual and more chic. I'm wearing it with a basic white top since I felt the skirt needs to stand out.

The photos were taken at El Retiro park, one of my favorite places in Madrid. It was a gorgeous day. I can't wait for the summer to have this weather permanently!

Have a great day and thanks for your comments,

Confessions of a Chocolate Addict

Hey guys!

This is a new section for the blog in which I'd like to share my passion for chocolate with you. Because...who doesn't love chocolate? Does it ever happen to you that you start thinking about it and can't stop until you eat some? It's insane!

Last Saturday night I couldn't resist this chocolate brownie with cream and vanilla ice-cream. Yum! You know what they say "A brownie a day keeps the frownies away" ; )

Photo Diary: Aranjuez Palace & Gardens

Photo Diary: Aranjuez Palace & Gardens

May 12, 2014

Aranjuez is a magical and majestic place. It is a real pleasure to walk through its huge and beautiful gardens during the spring which make you believe you have gone back in time to the 18th century.

Its Royal Palace was commisioned by Philip II and designed by Juan Bautista de Toledo and Juan de Herrera, who also designed El Escorial. It was completed during the reign of Ferdinand VI by the mid-18th century.

Inspired by the palace gardens, Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo wrote the Concierto de Aranjuez. Listen to it if you get the chance, it's magnificent! The music attempts to take the listener through sounds of nature in and around the gardens during the period in which it was written.

The last two photos are my favorite rooms from the Palace. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures inside, so those photos are not mine. However, I thought it was essential to share with you their extraordinary beauty.

The town of Aranjuez is located 42km south of Madrid. Next time you are there make sure you take a tour around it. It's definitely worth it.

Have a lovely week everyone. Thanks for reading : )
