The Marketplace

Close your eyes and think about a marketplace. All the colors, the smell of fruit and flowers, the voices of sellers, people swarming all over the place...doesn't it feel good?

Purificacion Garcia

September 22, 2014

Purificacion Garcia is one of Spain's leading brands of prêt-à-porter and also bag manufacturer. Her bags are among the most popular in our country. The key to her success are affordable prices and high quality together with the classy and elegant style of her designs. The designer was born in Spain but has lived all around the world: Montevideo, Canada and New York. A whole life dedicated to fashion. I love the fact that she believes in the idea that you don't need to spend a fortune to be stylish. Do you agree?

Food Presentation Inspo

Food Presentation Inspo

September 18, 2014

I often hear people saying that cooking is difficult or tedious. I couldn't disagree more. For me cooking is a hobbie and it's also art. Are you hosting a dinner this weekend? Don't panick. There are plenty of extremely easy recipes you can use and leave your guests in awe. It's all about how you present your food. Think about your senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. A perfect dish should stimulate all of them, so think about it next time you cook.

Balconies of Switzerland

Balconies of Switzerland

September 12, 2014

It's been a while since I did my last Switzerland post and I still have tons of photos to show you. While strolling around the streets of cities like Zurich, Bern, Schaffhausen or Stein am Rhein it was hard to look anywhere but at the beautiful buildings and their balconies. Gems hidden in narrow streets in the old parts of the city. It was also nice to see how well kept they are. Most were adorned with flowers in full bloom and some had colorful striped canopies.

Let me share with you my latest obsession: to photograph balconies. If you want to practice your photography skills, beautiful balconies are a good place to start. You are most likely going to get an amazing photo. Look for things out of the ordinary and especially flowers, they will add a pop of color that you can always intensify when editing your photos.

Have a great weekend,

H. Preppy Fashion Show

H. Preppy Fashion Show

September 10, 2014

Fashion month is upon us and Madrid is packed with events. September has kicked off with Madrid Fashion Show, next week Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid will take place and finally we have Vogue Fashion's Night Out on September 18.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to attend the fashion show of one of my favorite Spanish brands: H.Preppy. It was one of the events of Madrid Fashion Show, a project which offers and alternative to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid and which aims to promote the Spanish fashion industry.

H.Preppy's Spring/Summer 2015 collection is inspired by Mexico. The fabrics are rich and varied, there is a wide range of embroidery and prints. The limitless color palette represents the diversity and folklore of tribal and ethnic cultures. This collection targets confident, sexy and edgy girls, trend-setters who appreciate rich fabrics and quality.

I first heard of H.Preppy back in 2009 and I've been following them since then. I remember seeing a beautiful plaid coat with a gold embroidered crest on the breast pocket displayed on the window of the store where I buy most of my clothes back in my home town. It was love at first sight. I still own the coat and I love it just like when I bought it.

I believe that collection was inspired by Gossip Girl and Blair Waldorf in particular. The designs have evolved since then to a new preppy style. The clothes have become edgier mixing pink hues with studs, sequins or fringes. Their silhouettes are feminine with fitted bodices and full skirts. Their designs transform you instantly into an it-girl.

You can check out their website and on-line store here.

Have a great Wednesday and thanks for reading,

El Capricho "The Whim"

El Capricho "The Whim"

September 8, 2014

Aristocracy has a history of being capricious. The legacy of those whims has been huge. An example of this is El Capricho, a 14-hectare garden in Madrid which dates back to 1784. The garden houses many interesting places to discover, such as a labyrinth, flower beds, beautiful buildings and surprising nooks. Each path offers something new and breathtaking to see.

"The Whim" is a jewel of Romanticism and a monument to 18th-century taste. Building work was begun in 1780 on order of the Duke and Duchess of Osuna, the most cultivated couple among the aristocracy of their time, supporters of the ideas of the enlightenment and patrons to many artists. Jean-Baptiste Mulot, a French gardener who had worked for Marie Antoinette, was the head architect.

Wishing you a great start of the week!

September 5, 2014

The time has come. We have to say goodbye to summer. Say goodbye to long days and endless nights, to ice-cream and bonfires at the beach. Also to summer friends and summer love. Now, let's take a moment to remember all those amazing things that happened on the last couple of months and that we'll never forget. But don't be sad, now it's the time for new beginings I'm sure we all have exciting things coming up.

So, to say farewell to summer I've put together a few photos from my trips to show you the last outfits of the season. Are you excited about any new autumn trends? Are you following NYFW (or are you lucky enough to attend it)? Let me know on the comments below.

Have a great weekend,

White Towns of Andalusia

White Towns of Andalusia

September 3, 2014

Before the summer ends I wanted to show you some of the pics from my vacation in Southern Spain. They were taken in several of the so called White Towns of Andalusia (pueblos blancos). All of the villages are characterised by whitewashed walls and red or brown tiled roofs.

Many cultures have left their mark on the region, but the most influential was that of the Moors. The narrow, winding streets have a distinctly Arabic feel to them.

Stay tuned because on Friday I will show you the outfits from the trip.
Have a great Wednesday and thanks for reading,
