Spread the Love

December 31, 2014

I can't believe we are saying goodbye to 2014 already. Time flies. New Year's Eve is the day when we look back at what we've accomplished during the last 12 months. We also think about the good and not-so-good things that have happened. I try to stay positive and only think about the memories I'll cherish forever.

'Tis the season to celebrate and to be among your loved ones. Since this only happens once a year, we need to make the most of it. Personally, it's my favorite time of the year. Today I'm sharing with you the photos of the Christmas' Eve celebration at my aunt and uncle's house.

Our next stop in Christmas Around the World is São Paulo, Brazil. This trip was the first and only time I've been to South America. It was November 2011 and I went there on a business trip. I couldn't explore the city as much as I'd have liked to since I had to work. Fortunately, my driver was kind enough to take me to the must-see locations in between business meetings.

In 2006 I was living in Dublin thanks to a Erasmus grantThis was my first long stay far from home. For those of you who don't know, Erasmus is a famous scholarship granted in Europe to students who want to spend an academic year in another European university. It is a great opportunity to explore different cultures and to improve a second language.

Christmas San Francisco

From L.A. we are traveling north to our next stop: my dear San Francisco. One of the many beauties of the City by the Bay is the variety and richness of its neighborhoods. You can cross a street and feel like you are in a different city or even a different country -this is especially true of Chinatown.

The merriest season of the year is upon us and in order to celebrate it on the blog I'm going to do a series of posts about Christmas in different cities. I've spent Christmas (or the weeks around it) abroad several times during my life: California, Sao Paulo, Dublin or Belgium have been some of my destinations.

The first thing I should explain about this place is its name: Matadero, which is Spanish for slaughterhouse. The place has been converted to an arts centre. Matadero is a lively, constantly changing space at the service of creative processes, participatory artistic training and dialogue between the arts. It was set up to help reflect on the contemporary sociocultural environment and support processes to build the culture of today and tomorrow.

October 3, 2014

When I travel I like to shop for special things. Things I can't find home or that are typical from the country I'm visiting. For instance high-quality souvenirs, craftsmanship or vintage objects. Well, anything pretty basically ;)

Unfortunately, this is becoming more and more difficult due to globalization. So shopping aboroad becomes like a treasure hunt. The picture above is from one of those finds, a cute little underground shop in Bern, Switzerland. A little gem beneath the ground. You can't make a better use of space!

Enjoy the weekend,

The designer was born in Spain but has lived all around the world: Montevideo, Canada and New York. A whole life dedicated to fashion. I often hear people saying that cooking is difficult or tedious. I couldn't disagree more. For me cooking is a hobbie and it's also art. Are you hosting a dinner this weekend? Don't panick. There are plenty of extremely easy recipes you can use and leave your guests in awe. It's all about how you present your food. Think about your senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. A perfect dish should stimulate all of them, so think about it next time you cook.

Balconies of Switzerland

Balconies of Switzerland

September 12, 2014

It's been a while since I did my last Switzerland post and I still have tons of photos to show you. While strolling around the streets of cities like Zurich, Bern, Schaffhausen or Stein am Rhein it was hard to look anywhere but at the beautiful buildings and their balconies. Gems hidden in narrow streets in the old parts of the city. It was also nice to see how well kept they are. Most were adorned with flowers in full bloom and some had colorful striped canopies.

Let me share with you my latest obsession: to photograph balconies. If you want to practice your photography skills, beautiful balconies are a good place to start. You are most likely going to get an amazing photo. Look for things out of the ordinary and especially flowers, they will add a pop of color that you can always intensify when editing your photos.

Have a great weekend,
